Organic Fortnight 2010

In honour of the national Organic Fortnight 2010 starting tomorrow (for more information see http://www.soilassociation.org/) we thought we'd highlight our recently extended range of Organic wines, offering a double discount of 10% off any 6 bottles until 17th September.

Here at the Wine Shop we are proud to support the new venture ‘Wild Thing’, a project which not only puts a great bottle of organic wine on the table, but also helps to raise funds for the Born Free Foundation with every purchase made. The product was launched late July with a celebrity tasting in London and is now being rolled out across the UK.

“These are two delicious organic wines, how inspired to name them ‘Wild Thing’. The name so perfectly reflects the wines organic origins and the company’s concern for the environment and wildlife. We are thrilled that ‘Wild Thing’ is to be sold in aid of Born Free to directly benefit Conservation and Animal Welfare. I believe it fully deserves to be one of the most sought after and popular new organic wines of the year.” Virginia McKenna O.B.E, Actress and Founder The Born Free Foundation.

The Born Free Foundation is an international wildlife charity working throughout the world to stop individual animal suffering and to protect threatened species in the wild. More information can be obtained from http://www.bornfree.org.uk/.

The ‘Wild Thing’ wines are available as a Sauvignon Blanc and a Merlot (both equally smooth and easy drinking), from the La Mancha region of Spain and cost £7.99. Both in stock at Russell Street now!

Albet i Noya Tempranillo £9.99

New this week! This is all about the fruit, made in a similar way to Beaujolais, with no oak whatsoever, making a vivid, fresh, aromatic red, that's even better after a swift spell in the fridge

Albet i Noya Lignum £11.99

New this week! A rather more serious offering from this dynamic Penedes producer, using Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Grenache, with 6 months in American oak to make a full but beautifully balanced red, full of spice, vanilla and autumnal fruit

Battle of Bosworth Chardonnay Viognier £10.99

Battle of Bosworth Shiraz £14.99

Battle of Bosworth White Boar £29.99

Chameleon Chardonnay Torrontes £8.49

Domaine Jean Bousquet Malbec £9.99

Domaine Jean Bousquet Dulce Malbec 50cl £11.99

Meinklang Gruner Veltliner £10.99

New this week! So blown away was I with tasting this stunning example of the zesty, peppery Austrian grape variety that I forgot that the label left rather more to be desired...adored by sommeliers for its food matching credentials, Gruner Veltliner certainly deserves the attentions of you Marlborough Sauvignon fans out there...but be warned, the label's a horror!

Please note that our tasting of Organic Wines, originally scheduled to take place on Thursday 28th October has been postponed until next year.

To receive your 10% discount off any 6 bottles of Organic Wine, please give us a call at the shop on 01538 382408 or drop by, and be sure to mention reading this post.
