First Wine Club Tasting of the Year

We are absolutely delighted to announce that our first Wine Club tutored tasting of the year is to be held at the Peak Weavers on Monday 28th February at 7.30pm.

We welcome Fred Monnery of Louis Jadot in Burgundy to host an evening during which we will taste no less than ten fine examples from this prestigious negociant.

Praise doesn't come much higher for these wonderful wines and both David and I have worked with them for over 15 years.

'This is a shining example of a grower-cum-negociant' (Hugh Johnson), 'Its wines are often among the very best examples of their appellations' (Andrew Jefford) and over 150 years they have steadily acquired the best vineyards so that they can produce wines from over 150 sites the length and breadth of Burgundy...'It is not often in Burgundy that one can buy with confidence across a range; with Jadot, you can'. (Andrew Jefford)

Charismatic winemaker Jacques Lardiere, one of the most widely respected in France, passionately believes in a natural approach with minimal intervention to ensure that each vineyard and terroir expresses itself rather than a house style.

And so, at this event, Fred will take us through wines from Marsannay in the north (on the southern outskirts of Dijon) down through the Cote de Nuits, the Cote de Beaune, the Cote Chalonnaise, the Maconnais and right down to Beaujolais to include delights such as a Pouilly Vinzelles with some gorgeous bottle age, premier cru Beaune, Pernand Vergelesses, Gevrey Chambertin and Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru.

Tickets for this event cost just £20 (to include a selection of cheeses). Only 30 places available.

Please contact us by email at info@wineandwhisky.com or call us at the shop on 01538 382408 to reserve yours. We accept most credit and debit cards and will post the tickets to you.
