Chile Tasting Tickets Now Available

I am pleased to announce that tickets for our next tasting of the wines of Chile featuring Errazuriz and Caliterra on Thursday 28th July are now available.

David and I have worked with both of these fantastic producers for many years and we are delighted to welcome Jonathan Stevens to the Peak Weavers in Leek to take us through 10 wines to include everything from Sauvignon Blanc, to Gewurztraminer, to Pinot Noir, Carmenere, Malbec and the newly released 2007 vintage of the flagship icon Don Maximiano.

It was in 1870 that Don Maximiano Errazuriz planted the first vine in the Aconcagua Valley with the finest clones from France and it is now a world class vineyard. Now in the hands of fifth generation Eduardo the philosophy remains 'From the best land, the best wine'.

Now owning vineyards in Aconcagua Costa (which they pioneered), Casablanca, Curico and Maipo the family are totally committed to the concept of 'terroir' and the focus is on wines that have elegance and complexity.

Caliterra was established in just 1996 in the Colchagua Valley as a joint venture between Errazuriz and Californian giant Robert Mondavi. Now entirely in Errazuriz' hands (since 2004) the aim is to make modern fruit-driven wines and the past few years have seen a pioneering move towards sustainable wine production through community commitment, sustainable viticulture, environmental preservation, and eco-friendly packaging. The Reserva wines represent fantastic value and often feature in our Wine Club mixed case deals but for this tasting we will focus on the more complex Tributo wines which spend longer time in oak and are more food-friendly as well as an example of the Edicion range which are made from very small parcels of fruit.

As ever, these events are a great opportunity, not only to taste wines that you might never have dreamt you would (with a few surprises along the way) but also to make significant savings on our retail prices. Offers available on the night of this tasting represent a saving of up to 25% off!

Tickets cost £20 each to include 10 wines plus cheese, available in advance only from The Wine Shop.

Contact us on 01538 382408 or at info@wineandwhisky.com to reserve yours. We accept most credit or debit cards over the phone, cheques should be made payable to The Wine Shop Leek, and we can post your tickets to you at no extra charge.

Hope to see you there.
Leonie
